Cathedral Cave is one of the five caves in the Joyce's Dock group situated in the grounds of the Grotto Bay Beach Resort in Hamilton Parish. The hotel was built in the late 1960's. The dominant feature in Cathedral Cave is the large, deep lake. This lake is used by guests of the hotel as a weatherproof place to swim. Like the lakes in all of Bermuda's other caves, the lake in Cathedral Cave is tidal and composed of sea water migrating its way through fissures in the porous rock surrounding the cave. Cathedral Cave is so close to Prospero's Cave that these two caves are probably connected underwater.
